Willet is one of though bourbons where if you can find an barrel strength age stated offering buy it. You will never go wrong with their stuff. Previously all of the juicehas been purchased from other distilleries as some of the best of the best. Willet then re-brands it under their name. They mostly are aged anywhere from 7 to 21 years old. Recently, they have started their own distillery to provide Willet made bourbon. Once they get up to age, the juice will actually be made by Willet themselves.
The nose on this bourbon is phenomenal. There is a strong caramel sweetness with hints of oak. You may then find some vanilla and soft fruit like banana and pear.
The first sip brings lots of flavor. Strong caramel and toffee shine through. There is a bit of heat that comes on with the oak and mellows the others flavors out. Then, there are some red berry flavor mixed with cinnamon. Very complex bourbon at 7 years aged.
Value: 10/10. For $40 a bottle, you cannot go wrong. The hardest thing is finding it. If you can, get your hands on it.
Thanks Greg for letting me taste the bottle.
